Dear friends of the good life,

The World Congress of the Hedonist International will take place from 25th - 31st May 2022. We are looking for lectures, workshops and inspiring activism to change the world. We look forward to your colourful, subversive and adventurous ideas!

NB: This is not the ticket sale. Please only register if you wish to submit something for the programme!

How to apply:

This is Pretalx, the planning tool of the congress. First, you must create an account and enter all the necessary information including your contact details and availability. Then you can submit your proposal.

Please provide a description of your contribution that makes it easy for the uninitiated to understand your plans. Ideally, this text should also be suitable for inclusion in the official programme booklet. The standard duration of a slot for talks is 45 + 10 minutes for discussion (one hour in total). In some cases it may be possible to extend workshops, but in general having numerous shorter contributions enables greater variety in the programme. The major part of the programme will take place from 26th to 30th May; there will be considerably less content before and after those dates.

All proposals will be considered by the programme team, which strives to create a eclectic, exciting and rebellious schedule, with an eye to gender equality. The final programme will consist of a mixture of submissions and invited contributions. There is a limited number of programme slots in total, as well as in each of the thematic focus areas.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for talks, workshops, performances, and contributions of all kinds that fall within the three themes of the congress: protest, party, and action.

Especially:

• Culture jamming and media guerilla lectures and workshops of all kinds

• International activists who wish to spread the word about political struggles in their countries

• Lectures and workshops on the theory, practice, and history of hedonism

• Lectures and workshops on social struggles -- in theory and in practice

• Lectures and workshops on poverty, wealth, and redistribution

• Lectures and workshops on the global climate crisis

• Proposals related to food and culinary pleasures

• "Alone they'll keep you down": how to overcome divisions in progressive movements

• Lectures and workshops on exciting scientific and technological topics

• Lectures and workshops on migration and migrant perspectives

• Contributions aimed at embracing difference and combatting discrimination

• Lectures and workshops on anarchy in practice today

• Theoretical and practical contributions about civil disobedience

• Contributions about far right politics, the new right, racism, and antifeminism

• Contributions about the political, social, and societal effects of the Covid pandemic (no conspiracy theories)

• Attractions like the glitter bus, the the freak-o-mat; a ski jump simulator or a climbing park

Plus ...

• Numerous (heat resistant) speakers for lightening talks, which will take place both in and out of the sauna this year

The programme team will contact you when the call for action is closed and inform you of the next steps.

Good to know:

If you proposal is not accepted by the programme team, it may be because there are already too many offerings along the same lines. Please don’t take it too hard! There will be other opportunities for spontaneous contributions that are not part of the official programme at the congress.

This year's convention site requires proof of 2G (vaccinated or recovered) for all participants.

The World Congress is a DIY event. No-one earns any money and no fees are paid. Speakers and artists are also participants and should still buy a normal ticket. If your lecture or workshop requires materials or will incur other costs, please note this in your application. Some costs may be covered by the congress.
