Since 5 years (migrant) express couriers have been organizing in Germany. In Berlin the Lieferando Workers Collective (LWC) won workers council election twice and represented 2.000 couriers (30% of the internal logistics of Lieferando). Lieferando is outsourcing to get rid of couriers contracts and councils. Couriers are pushing for direct employment and for the EU platform directive’s individual and collective rights.
How did „the unorganizable“ organize? Outside unions + inside communities!
The Lieferando Workers Collective (LWC) invites you to join our self organized precarious migrant struggle against big data and platform capitalism.
We will talk about Workers councils ("Betriebsräte"), #Tech4Workers, the EU platform work directive (PWD) and our petition for #DirectEmployment NOW: https://direktanstellung.jetzt (Sign now, it takes 2 minutes)
1) Workers councils ("Betriebsräte") + Unions
We urge radical workers to organize progressive majorities in workers council and unions. Workers councils and unions are lame and useless because you are not part of them! The establishment of every workers council can be a process of expropriating capital and appropriating the means of production. Council are the base to build power inside unions and inside society.
2) #Tech4Workers
No data, no rights! Platform workers are producing data but have no access. How can we make use of the data that we produce on our own private devices? We try our best with open source software and language models ("AI") but we will always need the support of tech workers.
3) EU platform work directive
Individual and collective rights, even for third parties that are not unions?! How to implement the EU platform work directive? What to push for? What to push against?
4) #DirectEmployment NOW!
The employers are pushing for a loophole in the EU platform directive: intermediaries (article 3), meaning bogus subcontracting! Without direct employment, workers have no rights! Support express couriers pushing for a ban of a non employed forms of work (subcontracting, posted work, ...) at delivery platforms: https://direktanstellung.jetzt
The Lieferando Workers Collective (LWC) is the largest self-organized group for couriers — the majority of whom are migrants — in Germany. In Berlin, we represent 1,500 couriers at Lieferando, as well as many at Wolt, UberEats, and an increasing number of bogus subcontractors. 80% of the German food delivery app platform business runs through Lieferando. The LWC represents approximately 30% of Lieferando couriers in Germany. Over 90% of orders are not delivered by Lieferando itself.
We estimate that after the elections in 2026, every second Lieferando order in Germany handled by Lieferando’s own logistics will be delivered by a courier who is directly or indirectly supported or represented by the LWC.
You order, we deliver!
