Many public services, including healthcare, significantly depend on proprietary products and infrastructure. This tends to inflate the service costs enormously – to a simply unaffordable degree, especially in the global South. We've developed an open source MRI scanner – which allows everyone to use, study, share, and improve it. This talk will give an overview of the project and touch upon the principle of democratic technology.
Moe is active in multiple open source hardware communities and works as a scientific lead in Halle (MLU), building a framework for representative open standardization. His gut feeling tells him, that this is an important cornerstone for scalable anarchist decision-making.
At the Open Source Imaging Initiative (OSI²) he serves as a board member, contribution manager and administrator of OSI²’s Conformity Assessment Body for open-source hardware and software in the medical imaging sector.
